Like most REALTORS®, selling Real Estate was something that I fell into. I had just returned from 6 months in Peru where I had been working as jazz singer. My intention was to return to Peru after getting some finances in order. In the meantime, I had taken a job at a stocking store where they also sold bathing suits. One Saturday morning, A woman came into the store looking for support hose. After I had successfully found her colour and size, I mentioned to her that we were having a sale on bathing suits. She said she hadn’t worn a bathing suit in 20 years. She was uncomfortable with her body and felt she was too old. Well, 30 minutes later she walked out with a big smile on her face along with two brand new bathing suits. Her smile wasn’t any bigger than mine! I knew I had made her day. What she didn’t know was that she had just made my day as well. I realized I loved working with people.

I decided to get my real estate license. I thought I would sell two houses and return to Peru, but it didn’t work out that way. Having never been part of a corporate world, I stuck out like a sore thumb. My friends thought I looked ultra conservative and my new colleagues thought I looked like a punk rocker. My then broker didn’t hold out much hope for me either. He thought of all the new recruits, I would be the first one out the door. I might have been if I hadn’t met a terrific agent who befriended me and took me under his wing. I had the best time learning the ropes and I fell in love with real estate.

Well, it’s been much more than two houses and it’s a great ride! I have met the most interesting and wonderful people throughout my career. I feel very lucky to do what I do for a living.
